Note: Many of the changes made to the iFolder Client have stemmed from the Usability study that was done.

Active development is in the "ifolder_3_4" branch in SVN. Once it's stable, we'll roll all the changes back into trunk. If you find any other problems, please let us know and/or file a bug. Known bugs/issues:

  • Blows up when you remove the last account
    • The 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client no longer blows up, but in cases where multiple accounts are removed the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141909) is still a problem.


  • If you have more than one account set up and you drag and drop a folder to be created as an iFolder, it will not prompt you for which server to put it on (yet). It will put it on your default account's server
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141913) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you have multiple domains and select which server to create a new iFolder on, it may not respect that value and may just put it on your default server
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141731) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Deleting an iFolder from a server actually works but the iFolder does not disappear from the UI until you restart the client
    • REGRESSED with the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • The About dialog does not open
    • REGRESSED with the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you remove an account and add the same account, the list of iFolders is not being regenerated correctly
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141933) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • The spacing on the summary page of the Add Account Wizard is off - looks to be a bug in Gnome.Druid
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142156) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Highlighting an iFolder, deleting it does not reset the actions on the left-hand side of the window
    • Regressed against the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client


  • If you have an iFolder selected and remove the account for which it's attached, the actions on the left-hand side of the window will still appear
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141732) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you have an account properties dialog open for an existing default account and then create a new default account, the old account checkbox does not get updated
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141934) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Full keyboard support to navigate/select iFolders is not implemented yet
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142161) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Links to cancel startup/force shutdown aren't entirely implemented yet (you get these when you try to click on the iFolder Notification Icon during startup or shutdown)
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142208) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you don't wait for simias to shutdown entirely before restarting iFolder, the client may hang. The best way to check if simias is still running is to type "ps aux |grep mono"
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142209) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • There are a LOT of debug messages being pumped out to the screen. If you don't want to see these, start iFolder like this: /opt/novell/ifolder3/bin/ifolder > ~/Desktop/ifolder-run.log 2>&1
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142172) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you have an iFolder Property Dialog up and then an iFolder gets a conflict, it will not update
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141934) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you have an iFolder Property Dialog and then an iFolder synchronizes, the properties of when it synchronized last may not update
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141934) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • If you leave the main iFolder Window open and then quit iFolder, it should remember the position and size you left it. What IS NOT implemented is that if you close the window and then click the iFolder Notification Area icon, it does not remember the position you had it opened last

  • We need production-quality icons

  • The iFolders are not sorted alphabetically
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142178) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • The welcome message/graphic is not present
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142180) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • There is no instruction message/graphic for when a user has NO iFolders set up
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142198) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Need to implement something that instructs a user what to do when they drag a folder on top of the window
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142200) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Cannot drag and drop an available iFolder to be set up/downloaded
    • Verified that the following bug (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=142207) still exists in the 3.4.6005.1 NLD 10 client.


  • Someone suggested that we should use the folder icons from the theme. This isn't implemented yet, but could be done. We could put emblems over the top of them to signify their state.
